Alex Priestley is a Welsh writer-director based in Cardiff. He began making films in 2014, initially comedy shorts, music videos and commercial work, before moving increasingly towards narrative filmmaking.

His early work included co-writing and producing the comedy short Chant with Sam C Wilson, which won the Audience Choice Award at Cardiff Mini Film Festival. Around the same time, he began directing music videos for artists in South Wales, with his work attracting hundreds of thousands of views and being featured by Noisey, Vice, The Guardian, NME and MTV.

In 2016 he directed a comedy short for the BBC, before continuing to work commercially until 2019. He wrote and directed his first short film, Strange Days, in 2020, followed by the neo-noir True Crime the following year. In 2022 he wrote and directed Bad Soil, a nine-minute neo-Western crime thriller. The film won Best Short Film Made in Wales at Carmarthen Bay Film Festival and was selected for screening at Newport Beach Film Festival in California, among others.

In 2026 he began production on his first feature film, a self-funded micro-budget road movie set across South Wales.
